Ideal society — Equality — Chapter two
Equality may refer to economic, political, racial, gender, law, opportunity and so on. I want to be more specific and talk about Egalitarianism.
In a nutshell it means everyone is equal in fundamental worth or social status.
I don’t want to get deep on this and present you with all the facts and theory from all around the world. I want people to realize the importance of every individual involved in their life, let it be social, personal or professional. Don’t take everything granted and replaceable. There are some things you can’t buy and replace. You may not even realize until it’s too late.
What I am trying to convey is not something new, but it is something we never realize. When is the time you appreciate driver of a micro-bus on your way to work or back home. Yeah you can always replace the driver, but you cant replace a driver. You know what I mean. You can replace the janitor who is rude, but You can’t replace a janitor, because then you will have to do all his chores yourself. So better start appreciating the importance of their work. And make sure they are well compensated for their service, because you will need their service in future, if not soon or repeatably.
As an analogy, I made myself understood with a motorbike I used to ride for a long years. It gave me a tough time, mentally. Financially, it was a nightmare. Just after a year and half into service, had to do full engine makeover. After that a minor crash broke a mudguard. Then as result of replacing some cheap crap to save some money, I went on to replacing 3 times in a span of 5 months. Looking back, it would have been worth to buy genuine part for a little higher price. After a year, two years into service, as a result of mishandling, petrol tank starts to leak. Whole another level of trouble to go through. I will fast forward to the point I decided to sell that motorbike. I did and bought another one. Brand new. Now its like I will be on a loop to buy, repair and sell. I had to break from that loop before spending any of my time and money. Then I started to care it a little bit more than before. Motorbike is not only about its engine. Like its CC matters. If one nuts goes loose, then you as a whole loose. Is just the matter of on which scale you loose. And if you are among the person for whom time is money and have a long journey ahead. I bet engine failure is as same as a loose nut. Rs 50 is what it cost, but may make you loose a possible worth billion on your way.
For those who wants to travel far and in high speed to achieve something in their life, everything matters. Even a grain of rice in enough speed can cause a significant damage. We might as well also know butterfly effect. A flap of butterfly wing here may cause a hurricane in other side of the world, in a long run.
In an ideal society Equality is not in how much resources we divide. Its about how equally we think of each other in our fundamental worth as a part of society.
